In a debate among the 4 Republican candidates for US Senate at Nashua City Hall last Thursday, Kelly Ayotte mistakenly said Sarah Palin was the first female VP nominee.

It likely was a simple flub on Kelly Ayotte’s part, but Jim Bender didn’t waste time calling her out on it.
While responding to a question Thursday night about whether she most identified with Mitt Romney or Sarah Palin, Ayotte incorrectly stated Palin was the first female vice presidential nominee in the country’s history.
Ayotte, a former attorney general for the state, was taking part in a debate among the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate.
As many people know, it actually was Geraldine Ferraro, running on the ticket with Walter Mondale in the 1984 presidential election, who is the rightful owner of that accomplishment.
During the next round of questioning, Bender, a Hollis businessman and one of Ayotte’s opponents, corrected her.
“I said the first Republican,” Ayotte told Bender.
However, a review of the tape showed Ayotte never said “Republican.”
The debate will air on WYCN Channel 13 three times today: 11 a.m. and 2 and 7 p.m. The debate will air for the last time at 7 p.m. Monday.
